Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to both the Clotherly website (clotherly.com.au) and the Clotherly mobile app. At Clotherly, we are committed to protecting your privacy.

1. Information We Collect

Website and App

We collect usage data via Firebase Analytics, including pages visited, search queries, and product clicks. These records are not linked to your name or your account. We also collect search and click data: search terms, garment types, colours, price ranges, brands, patterns, styles, gender selection, and which shopping centres you chose to search within, to understand fashion trends. We also record which shopping centres you select and when you ask for directions to one. Separately, when you favourite a product, build an outfit or save a search, we record what kind of thing it was: brand, garment type, price, colour, and for an outfit the combination of brands. That is recorded against a per-install identifier, never against your account, and we never give a retailer your actual list of favourites or outfits: though aggregated patterns, such as two brands often being combined, may appear in reporting. All of it may be shared with our retail partners and fashion brands in aggregated form only, and individual users are never identifiable in shared reports.

When you visit a brand's website via an affiliate link on clotherly.com.auor in the app, we may earn a commission. The brand's website has its own privacy policy and may set cookies on your device.

Cookies (Website)

clotherly.com.au uses cookies and similar tracking technologies for:

  • Analytics: Google Analytics, to understand site traffic and usage. Loaded only after you accept cookies via the banner, and stopped if you later decline in Cookie settings.
  • Affiliate tracking: when you click through to a retailer via an affiliate link, the affiliate network that runs that retailer's programme may place a tracking cookie so we can attribute the resulting sale and earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via the banner shown when you first visit the site, and you can change that choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. Declining disables analytics tracking; essential cookies required for the site to function are not affected.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a decision to decline non-essential cookies. Analytics and advertising scripts are not loaded, and you are not shown the banner, because you have already told us your answer. You can still override it for this browser using Cookie settings.

Mobile App Only

If you use the Clotherly mobile app, we may also collect:

  • Email address: when you create an account or sign in
  • Authentication credentials: via Google or Facebook sign-in
  • Device location: only when you grant permission, used to find nearby shopping centres. We never store it on our servers. If you consent to personalised advertising in the app, our advertising partners may also process precise location and device signals, which Google’s consent form discloses and AdMob provides no way to switch off on its own, so the only way to refuse it is to decline personalised advertising in Ad Privacy Options in the app.
  • Push notification token: only when you grant permission, used to send deal alerts
  • Device information: device model, brand, operating system version, app version, and a per-install identifier, used to improve the service

Your recent search history is kept on your device. Searches you explicitly save, along with your favourites and outfits, are synced to our servers under your account so they are available across your devices. You can delete them at any time in the app. Separately, we log search terms and product clicks against a per-install identifier rather than your account, so we cannot look up what a named person searched for. That identifier is persistent and distinguishes one device from another, so it is pseudonymous rather than truly anonymous, and we treat it as personal information where privacy law requires. We do not collect your name, payment card details, or any personally identifiable information beyond what is listed above.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the Clotherly service
  • To create and manage your account (app)
  • To find shopping centres near your location (app, with your permission)
  • To send you deal alerts and notifications (app, with your consent)
  • Manage subscriptions via RevenueCat (app). The payment itself is taken by Apple, Google or Stripe, and we never see your card details
  • To generate anonymised analytics for our retail partners and fashion brands. Individual users are never identified

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Firebase (Google): authentication and analytics
  • Google Analytics: website traffic and usage analytics (website, after cookie consent)
  • Affiliate networks: where a retailer runs an affiliate programme, the network that operates it tracks purchases made after clicking an affiliate link on our site, so we can earn a commission. Each network publishes its own privacy policy on its website.
  • RevenueCat: subscription management (app)
  • Meta (Facebook): optional sign-in (app)
  • Google: optional sign-in and location services (app)
  • Expo: push notifications (app)
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google): crash and diagnostic reports, so we can find and fix faults
  • Stripe: payment processing for subscriptions bought on the website
  • Vercel: hosting for our website and for the APIs the app calls
  • Resend: transactional email
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: turning a place name or postcode you type into a location
  • Google AdMob: advertising for free tier app users. AdMob may collect and use data about your device and app usage to serve relevant ads. Paid subscribers do not see ads.

4. Data Storage & Retention

Your account data and analytics data are stored in Google Firebase, in the australia-southeast1 region, that is, in Australia. Account, favourites and outfit data is kept while your account is active and is deleted when you delete your account. Analytics records carry an expiry date 400 days after they are collected; automatic deletion against that date is not yet switched on, so until it is we delete these records on request rather than on a schedule. You may request full deletion at any time.

5. Data Deletion

You can delete your saved searches, favourites and outfits within the app at any time. To delete your account and everything stored against it, use Account menu → Delete Account in the app. This removes your saved searches, saved products, outfits and account details. You can also email hello@clotherly.com.au. and we will process the request within 30 days.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be shared with our retail partners and fashion brands to provide insights into customer behaviour and trends. Individual users are never identifiable in this data. You can stop your activity being recorded for these reports at any time using the Usage Analytics switch in the app’s account menu.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access. Our services use industry-standard encryption and security practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights (Australian Privacy Act 1988)

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of marketing communications

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

9. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
